Change is change back to the seventies

In 1979, I was in a small restaurant in Amherst, NH and listened to a man who was explaining to his son why he didn’t want to work any harder. He told his son that he had reached the 70% bracket.  He would only make 30 cents on the dollar,  he had to work 3 to 4 times as tong to make a dollar.  His son asked why he didn’t hire some one to work for him to make him some money and he explained that there is risk and costs in having a employee and at 30 % on the profit dollar it just wasn’t worth it. Oh, that new yacht
